Northeast states launch three-day safety enforcement blitz
Commercial carriers should review driver safety protocols before the campaign begins. The operation targets all highway users, not just commercial vehicles.
Law enforcement agencies in five Northeast states will run a coordinated safety campaign from October 13 through October 15. The operation covers Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Patrols will focus on speeding, distracted driving and aggressive maneuvers. The Massachusetts State Police issued the announcement to lower crash rates on major roads.
The blitz does not target commercial vehicles alone. It applies to all drivers on the road. Carriers should remind their drivers to follow traffic laws closely during these dates.
Data from 2025 inspections lists the top commercial violations as ignoring traffic signals, driving six to ten miles per hour over the limit, and breaking lane rules. Violations related to driving time and electronic logging equipment also appear frequently in the records.
